...2001 Poetry...

.......Christ Strengths Me (April 4, 2001).......

I saw my task ahead,
Stared it straight in the eye,
The road is very rugged,
But I don't mind,
Cause I got my Jesus right by my side.

.......Young One (December 27, 2001).......

Living to die,
Dying to live,
This boy has nothing left to give.

He could have been great,
Sadly ruined by his fate,
His family is now gone,
Unfortunately he stands not alone.

His foe is much older,
Heart so much colder,
Responsible for the boy's fate falling short,
He stands as a formidable fort.

The boy stands willing destiny to his side,
Letting his emotions be his guide,
The foe stands with bad intentions,
Future tragedy known without mention.

Will this foe ever meet his demise?
Rise young boy!
As an angel of the Skies!

.......Honor (June 9, 2001).......

What's a hero?
A reliever of burdens,
Of sadness, darkness, drear,
A courageous soul,
Who stays ever ready when trouble's near,
A wise man,
Who states the problem smooth and clear,
A dedicated being,
He would take his life to save his world so dear,

Are you a hero?
Do you have anything to fear?

.......Start of the Battles (April 3, 2001).......

Scenery changing 'round me,
Blood in the air,
I stay up straight,
Hiding my look of scare.

I shake all over,
This is it,
I tell myself,
The start of it all.

All I see is silent faces 'round me,
And Ones who've tried before,
They kept me walking,
Ever afraid of death's door.

I reach my destination,
Get ready for fight,
I hear my leader getting started,
I pull my bow tight.

The command is given,
Arrow in flight,
I pull again,
My spirit's now eager to fight.

But to my dismay,
I've killed a young knight.

.......Poet (April 14, 2001).......

As she picked it up,
It seemed as close to magic,
Should she use it to make something pretty,
Or perhaps something tragic?

With practice she could make anything,
She could make a princess' day,
Or make a terrible criminal pay.

Who'd have known the power,
That someone's pen could hold today?

........First and Last Taste (July 10, 2001).......

It started out as a game,
And as a loose reason to gain fame,
I was gonna be famous,
A hero of fight,
I was trained well,
And joked of our opponent's great might.

As the day approached,
We slacked off more and more,
Thinking this fight would be a bore,
The friendship between soliders held strong,
Always playing games and causing wrong.

Then it came.
The day of the fight.

We marched on unorderly as so,
Expecting to deliver a simple death blow,
We walked out spouting rude chants as such,
Until we saw the charging enemies,
But they still didn't scare me much.

How wrong I was,
Fear then came as an ocean.

As the enemy drew closer,
Archerers shooting behind,
We were falling fast,
Too fast for it to land in your mind.

I didn't charge,
Scared of my death,
What is this that is created?!
Why can't I catch my breath?!

I was running away,
Dodging on the ground faces of death.
I was more than scared,
As I found my friend on a bed of death.

He was surely dying,
Blood everywhere,
He was still somehow holding on,
Not allowed to go there.

His eyes were no longer,
But I knew that he was there,
He spake to me using his weak strength,
And it scared more than I cared.

He told me to send him home,
He was more than ready to go,
He didn't want to hurt anymore,
For this pain he couldn't bear.

I continued running,
Couldn't bear to end my friend,
I want to get out of this madness!
I want it to end!

I stopped and started to cry,
Don't know how or why,
Then I felt a grave sting,
I knew that I was hit by something,
Then I turned to see it as clear as day,
An arrow standing out from my side,
And I yanked it out without delay.

I started getting dizzy,
Losing my sight,
I shouldn't have pulled that arrow,
I doubt I'll see tonight,
I'm fading fast,
Feel pain to my core,
This is no place for games!
This is war!
